The German layout

Our largest and oldest layout is inspired by Germany. Here you will find high mountains, rivers, and long stretches of track. On the layout, you can experience an authentic Hauptbahnhof, a Biergarten, a German harbor area, a mountain railway, and much more.

Watch as night falls over the layout and lights appear on platforms and in houses. See the trains travel through the darkened landscapes like a glowing serpent.

Rolling Stock on the Layout

Here you will not only find German rolling stock, but also equipment that has crossed the border into Germany from the north, south, east, and west.

We have around 70 steam locomotives, 60 diesel locomotives and railcar sets, and 60 electric locomotives – a total of approximately 190 operational units. All of these illustrate the development of railway rolling stock from around the year 1900 up to the present day.

Take a Trip to Germany

Explore the German landscape and discover the many different buildings, areas, and – not least – the variety of trains. Both children and adults love seeing all the interactive features on the layout and enjoying the beautiful scenery. You’ll discover something new every time you take a walk around the German model railway.
